rebecca: Okay, Barlow... exactly what is it you want from me?
barlow: I have need for you witchy skills. Maybe we could find some answers about our missing day.
barlow: I'd like you to contact Beatrice Sluggmosse.
rebecca: Oh, I see. She was in that old photograph that Alex found, wasn't she? Do you really think there's a connection?
barlow: There very well could be. I need to ask her some questions.
rebecca: Well, if she's anything like she once was, you'll have trouble getting a word in.
crystal: She talks a lot?
rebecca: Not talks... complains. And it doesn't matter what's going on, she'll find a fault and point it out.
barlow: Well, we have to do something.
rebecca: Okay. Here goes...
rebecca: Beatrice... Beeeaaatriiiice... We need to speak with youuuuuuu...
rebecca: ....Beatrice... enter my body... I grant you my voice...
barlow: Well?
crystal: It looks like she fell asleep.
barlow: Beatrice, are you there?
rebecca: How DARE you call me up, Barlow Bean?! I didn't ask for this. You better have a good reason to pull me out of my eternal slumber again.
rebecca: And what's the deal with letting demons live in Spider Cliff?! If Vedalia was around today... well, I'm going to let her know what's going on the next time I see her...
barlow: How well are you able to contact the dead?
rebecca: Well, I have no trouble channeling someone who I knew in real life. But anyone I didn't know, forget about it. They have absolutely no interest in speaking through me.
barlow: Beatrice, may I ask you some questions?
rebecca: What? Oh, I see... you only want to see old Beatrice when you need something from her. How shameful! The dead prefer to be left alone, and we'll agree to leave you alone in return.
rebecca: Of course, a visit now and then would be fine, just to show that you care... but I can't abide your stupid questions...
barlow: Beatrice, I need to know something about what happened a long time ago.
rebecca: Oh... so you only want to dig up dear old Beatrice when you need something. Well let me tell you, the dead are not here to bail you out every time you get stuck. We prefer to be left alone.
rebecca: I guess since you've already called me up...
rebecca: Well, go ahead. Get it over with, just don't ask anything you've asked me already. I don't like explaining things twice.
barlow: What do you mean... already?
rebecca: Don't you remember, Barlow? You had Rebecca summon me up just yesterday. You do remember that... don't you?
barlow: Wha... oh, uh... yeah. Sure.
rebecca: So why on earth did you have to call me up again? I'm not in a good mood today, what with you constantly summoning me and the general uproar of my family in the grave.
barlow: What was the secret you were hiding?
rebecca: Barlow Bean! How dare you! A woman's secrets are hers alone! You have no business digging into other people's secrets... especially if those people are already dead.
barlow: No, mean the secret that you shared with the others. We found your photograph... and the message, "keepers of the secret". What was the secret?
rebecca: I... I have no memory of that... I think you're just making that up, Barlow.
rebecca: Is this some sort of prank you like to play? Call up dead people and ask them questions about things they hadn't done? I'm not going to be fooled by that again.
barlow: What happened on the day that Alistair Bigly Bean died?
rebecca: On the day... on the day... You know, I still don't remember much about that day. I remember feeling sad, that's about it. I guess my memory is going. It happens when you reach a certain age... along with a hundred other ailments... such as...
barlow: Okay, that's enough.
barlow: Do you remember anything about Alistair?
rebecca: Oh, I remember Alistair Bigly Bean very well. I was about fourteen when he died.
rebecca: He was the most noble, most wise leader our town ever had. Absolutely nothing bad can be said against Alistair. In fact, there used to be a law that nobody could say anything bad about him... not that anyone would.
rebecca: He was by far the BEST demon-hunter this town ever had! How shameful that the sacred office has degenerated so far...
rebecca: Demons were never meant to live in Spider Cliff. I hope for everyone's sake that you're only in Spider Cliff temporarily.
crystal: Actually, I live in the same house with Barlow.
rebecca: SHAMEFUL! I can't believe what I'm hearing... you, Barlow, living in sin with that... abomination of nature!
barlow: Why were you so sad on that day?
rebecca: Oh, like it really matters to you? It was personal... and I was a young girl, so why couldn't I be sad?
rebecca: I was sad because my mother was gone and I never had a chance to say goodbye to her.
barlow: So your mother died on that day?
rebecca: What? I dunno, maybe. She died right around that time, maybe a few days before.
barlow: What's the uproar you're talking about?
rebecca: Well, it's not like the welfare of the dead is of any importance to the living... don't deny it...
rebecca: But everyone in the Cathwick crypt are complaining about the noise level in there... they say there's someone in there who doesn't belong... scum of the earth, from what I gather... some refugee from that accursed circus.
rebecca: And all I can think of is, "Why didn't Barlow do something about this already?" I did tell you about this yesterday, if you remember...
barlow: Oh, don't you worry... I'll get right on that.
rebecca: Good. Now leave me alone!
barlow: Wait! Beatrice, wait... I have more questions...
rebecca: It's too late, barlow... she's gone.
barlow: That's okay, at least I know where to go to find some answers.
