Transcript of this chapter:

crystal: So... explain to me again why I'm not working now?
rebecca: You were supposed to work the early shift on Wednesday. However, we've recently discovered that somehow we skipped yesterday and went straight to today, which is Thursday.
rebecca: On Thursdays, you work the afternoon shift.
crystal: I see.
crystal: Rebecca, is anyone... you know, concerned about missing Wednesday.
rebecca: I would say we're all a little mystified about it right now.
crystal: Yeah... I can imagine. Say... I'm going to go run some errands... and I'll be back for my shift.
annabelle: Crystal! Good morning!
annabelle: See?! See?! I stayed right here all night, just like you said! Did you bring some brains? I'm getting so hungry!
crystal: No brains, sorry.
annabelle: Oh, but you promised...
crystal: Sorry, but something else came up...
crystal: What happened yesterday?
annabelle: Yesterday? I think we met right here and you told me to stay here... and that's about all I know.
crystal: No no, that was the day BEFORE yesterday!
crystal: Do you deserve brains?
annabelle: Oh, yes yes yes! I waited all night right here and was such a good hungry zombie!
crystal: Then what happened between yesterday and today?
annabelle: I... I don't know what you're talking about.
crystal: It appears that we missed a day. Today isn't the day after yesterday... it's now tomorrow... er, so today is tomorrow...
crystal: Let me start again...
crystal: We skipped over one day and now we're an extra day away from yesterday.
annabelle: What does it matter?
annabelle: I'm dead. One day is just like the next, and I don't even keep track. Does it really matter what happened to Wednesday?
crystal: HA!
crystal: I never told you what day was missing! You DO know something about this!
annabelle: Okay, okay... I know something about it.
crystal: Do you mean to tell me that you remember what happened yesterday?
annabelle: I didn't MEAN to tell you that, but yeah... but it's not really something that concerns me...
crystal: Are you going to tell me?
annabelle: I'm not sure it concerns you, either.
crystal: How can I trust you now?
annabelle: You can trust me!
crystal: Not if you act like this.
annabelle: I swear that you can trust me!
crystal: Should I take the word of a hungry zombie?
annabelle: I swear on the memory of my late father, Phineas Bumbershoot, master of the Brimley and Bumbershoot Circus.
crystal: You're swearing on the memory of... a carney?
annabelle: Don't mock us circus-folk!
crystal: I DEMAND that you tell me what happened! You MUST obey!
annabelle: I must obey.
crystal: So tell me!
annabelle: I can't say anything.
crystal: You don't know anything?
annabelle: I'd have to have BRAINS to know something... and you've been awfully stingy with bringing any!
crystal: If I brought you some brains, then would you tell me?
annabelle: No. But I'd be grateful for the food.
crystal: Have you been in this crypt the whole time?
annabelle: It's possible...
crystal: Answer me!
annabelle: What do you think?
crystal: You're not being very cooperative! And after all I've done for you. I've been trying to come up with ways to help you... I stayed up all night trying to think of... hey!
crystal: Wait a minute! When I woke up this morning, there was subtle odor in my room... like daffodils and rotting meat...
crystal: I though it was coming from Barlow's room below me, but his room smells more like unwashed goats. It was you, wasn't it?
crystal: Why were you in my room this morning?!
annabelle: I had some stuff to take care of.
crystal: One thing is for sure... we have to keep you hidden until this is solved.
crystal: I was hoping we'd figure a way to let you stay here in Spider Cliff.
annabelle: Crystal, why don't you just turn me in? I wouldn't hold it against you.
crystal: No way! I have to look out for other evil persons, don't I? What kind of demon would I be?
crystal: But I can't allow you to attack any of my friends, and I know they'd freak out of they saw you... so we have to keep you here for a little while longer.
annabelle: Okay, but don't forget... if I don't get some brains soon, I don't know how much longer I can control my urges to kill...
crystal: Why can't I get a straight answer out of you?!
crystal: Zombies are supposed to do everything that demons tell them to!
annabelle: I know... that's what's making this so confusing for me...
crystal: Oh, but if there's a more powerful demon giving you orders, my orders could be ignored...
annabelle: You're the only demon I've ever met.
crystal: Then, that means... I told you? I told you not to tell me?
annabelle: Y-yeah...
crystal: What else did I tell you not to tell me?!
annabelle: I... uh, well... nothing.
