Transcript of this chapter:

rebecca: Oh, Barlow. You've come back to us.
barlow: Oh... my head feels like... bad...
barlow: Rebecca, I can't move... I can't feel my arms or my feet...
rebecca: Well, no dear, you're in the final stages of the curse.
rebecca: But don't you worry about it. Crystal is going to show up any moment now with the cure.
barlow: What makes you so sure?
rebecca: Why Barlow, you don't think we'd just let you die, do you?
rebecca: Crystal took an oath that she'd find a way to break the curse, and that's what I fully expect her to do.
barlow: And if she doesn't make it in time?
rebecca: Oh, barlow, how could you say that? We have to keep positive about this sort of thing.
rebecca: There's still time for Crystal to come through with the cure.
barlow: I think you overestimate the abilities of that demon.
rebecca: You think she can't pull it off?
barlow: I'm not sure she has to.
rebecca: It's quite pos... Barlow, one would think you're trying to get me to say something.
rebecca: I'm sure Crystal will succeed.
barlow: I wonder what makes you so optimistic...
rebecca: What? I'm not allowed to be optimistic? I'm only trying to be helpful.
barlow: One would think you're up to something.
barlow: It's okay if she doesn't get here in time.
rebecca: So you're ready for death? So young!
barlow: No, I just don't think I'm going to die.
rebecca: Really?...
barlow: I think you know what I'm talking about.
rebecca: What do YOU think is happening?
barlow: Oh, I give up trying to figure any of this out.
rebecca: That's good. Try not to exert yourself too much. You need to rest up for later.
barlow: Why can't you tell me what's really going on. Just give me a clue.
rebecca: Barlow, what are you talking about? Maybe you're starting to get paranoid.
barlow: Perhaps I'm not as sick as we previously thought.
rebecca: Well, you're not dead yet.
barlow: And maybe... just maybe, I was never really sick to begin with.
rebecca: Oh. So you think you were misdiagnosed?
barlow: More like misled.
rebecca: Oh, Barlow, if that's what you want to believe...
barlow: I think you know more about this than me.
rebecca: Yes, well... I suppose that I do.
barlow: Then you'll tell me what this is all about?
rebecca: It doesn't really concern you.
barlow: Doesn't concern?! I can't move!
rebecca: Oh, it'll wear off shortly.
barlow: Why did you do this to me?!
rebecca: Do what?
barlow: This curse thing! It isn't real, and you're the only person who could create these symptoms.
rebecca: Oh, Barlow, you're so far out of the loop... I don't think I could even begin to explain... except to say that I wasn't behind this little adventure.
barlow: Is Crystal the only one who doesn't know?
rebecca: This isn't a conspiracy, Barlow.
barlow: Oh, really? It took you to poison me with that pie. It took Alex to make up that story about the chickarees, and it took the Sheriff to give us a phony lead. That sounds like a conspiracy to me!
rebecca: Okay, okay... we all played our part.
barlow: So which of you was the mastermind behind this little caper?
rebecca: As a matter of fact, it wasn't anyone you just mentioned.
rebecca: I wanted to tell you about all of this, but we didn't know if we could.
barlow: But Crystal doesn't know either, does she?
rebecca: Well, it was crucial to the plan that she didn't.
barlow: I need to know what this is about!
rebecca: Shush, barlow. You need to rest... and get used to not knowing everything.
rebecca: Now be polite when Crystal gets here with the cure.
barlow: I'll keep this secret...
barlow: When Crystal gets here with that fake cure, I'll pretend that it saved me.
rebecca: Oh, I'm very relieve that you said that. You're very understanding. You'll be making Crystal very happy.
barlow: Yeah, I know. Whatever.
