crystal: Aha, so this is where everyone's been. I've been looking all over for town for, well, everyone. Is Annabelle here, too?rebecca: You just missed her. Barlow and Alex are still in the station examining the mechanisms.
crystal: Oh, so THIS is the gondola station?
rebecca: Yep, this is the local station. The gondola would go from here to the remote station in the woods.
rebecca: That's why I had Annabelle out here. She took some pictures with a long zoom lens, to see if the remote station is still out there. The fog hasn't returned completely, so there's a chance that we could see it.
crystal: That's a cool idea... Wait! Are you planning on trying to get the gondola working again?
rebecca: I haven't really made up my mind on that, but there's one person who's already talking about it...
rebecca: I think Barlow has plans of using the gondola if the whole thing can be repaired.
crystal: Sure, another attempt to leave Spider Cliff.
rebecca: Does it bother you?
crystal: Well, fine. Let him go.
rebecca: Well, it's not as easy as that...
crystal: He wouldn't be brave enough to ride that gondola.
rebecca: I'm not so sure. I think Barlow would do a lot of things, if he thought it would allow him to leave. I don't doubt that he'd ride a gondola over the woods.
rebecca: But that's not the real problem...
crystal: He doesn't REALLY want to leave. He talks about leaving all the time, but that doesn't mean he'll actually DO it.
rebecca: I don't know. I think he really means it this time.
crystal: But he's the last member of the Bean family! He can't just leave so casually.
rebecca: The Bean family is not the first aristocratic family to leave Spider Cliff. The Sprawling family are all long gone, as are most of the Blakes.
rebecca: Behind me is the residence of the Monocle family, and the last member of that family left even before I moved to town.
rebecca: What happens to Spider Cliff when there's no demon-hunter?...
rebecca: What does it mean for any demons or zombies that might be living here, if there's no demon-hunter to keep people from worrying?
crystal: Oh...
crystal: Haven't I proved myself enough already?!
rebecca: To me, yes. But not everyone in town might be as comfortable with a demon living along them, especially if there's nobody here for you to answer to.
crystal: Oh, get real! Barlow is NO match for me, if I wanted to perform violent acts.
crystal: You can get another demon-hunter.
rebecca: Sure, but will the next demon-hunter be so permissive? Will the next demon-hunter let demons and zombies wander around the town unattended.
crystal: Stop that. You make me sound like a criminal.
crystal: I'm not ready to leave Spider Cliff just yet.
rebecca: You might not be, but Barlow clearly thinks that he is...
rebecca: Crystal, you have to recognize that your fate and Barlow's fate are closely tied, at least as far as this town is concerned. If you want to reside in Spider Cliff, Barlow has to reside here, too.
crystal: Oh, like he's going to really going to leave? He's not mature enough to make it in the world.
rebecca: Well, he doesn't know that, and it looks like he's found his way to leave.
crystal: We'll see about that.
barlow: I don't see why you have to be so skeptical about it! We know the machinery can be repaired. We know it's all in excellent condition!
alex: Yeah... but the gondola fell into the woods for a reason. Maybe... maybe we shouldn't risk it again...
barlow: That's no reason! You're being completely unreasonable.
alex: I didn't say no.... I'm just not convinced that we need it.
barlow: Crystal! Crystal, will you personally confirm to Alex that demons are NOT going to destroy the gondola if we get it running again?
crystal: I don't think it's safe. I think the gondola was a bad idea in the first place, so there's no use in trying to restore it.
barlow: What?!
crystal: What makes you think it's going to work this time around?
barlow: There have been a lot of engineering advances since it was originally built. Alex and I were just looking at how we could improve on the existing machinery.
alex: it's true. It does appear that we could make the gondola run a lot more safely and efficiently.
alex: My objections are just... well, I don't really have any problems with repairing the gondola. I just feel uncomfortable about it...
barlow: You'll see, Alex. This is going to be a good thing for the town.
crystal: I think it's better to preserve it like it is than to restore it. It's part of Spider Cliff history, isn't it?
alex: Thank you.
barlow: But Alex... would you prefer to catalog our history, or actually rebuild it... to allow it to become part of Spider Cliff once more?
alex: Well... that's a very tempting idea...
barlow: You'll see, Alex. This is going to be a good thing for the town.
crystal: I don't really care.
barlow: Don't care?! How could you not care about something as cool as this?!
crystal: Just do... Just do whatever you want.
barlow: I will. Now Alex, what do you think?
alex: Well, if nobody else is against it...
barlow: You'll see, Alex. This is going to be a good thing for the town.
crystal: You don't care. You just want to use it to leave.
alex: What?! It that true, Barlow?
barlow: Er.... no. No, I just want to, uh... to see Spider Cliff reclaim some of its past glory.
alex: Oh, well that's different.
crystal: Are you going to let him push you around like that?
alex: No!
barlow: Right! So you support the rebuilding project.
alex: Well...
barlow: Of course you do! There, it's all settled.
barlow: Or is it that we lack the knowledge to get this gondola up and running again?...
alex: You know we have it. All of the instructions and documentation for the existing gondola system is in the public archives.
barlow: There's no reason not to do this, then.
crystal: Maybe we should put this up to a vote. I'm not sure that everyone in town shares your optimism.
crystal: We know that the sheriff isn't wild about our finding the gondola. Eliza isn't too pleased either, I would imagine.
barlow: A vote? Okay, let's go round everyone up.
crystal: You know, I think we should wait, until tomorrow at the earliest. We need time to discuss the issues at length.
barlow: A whole day? I don't want to wait that long. Well, okay, but I know there's enough votes to go ahead with all of this, so it's just a pointless delay.
