barlow: Alex?... Hey, I think we've gone too far. I can't hear your mother at all.alex: But we haven't found any red-fanged mandrake yet. If I'm going to get that zombie off my back, I NEED to find some.
barlow: It's starting to get late, the fog is already starting to creep back in...
barlow: And I think we're walking around in circles. I think this is the third time I've seen that fallen tree.
alex: Relax, Barlow. We're not in any danger... yet.
barlow: Aren't you concerned about getting lost?
alex: We still have time before the fogtide ends.
barlow: But we're too far away from the edge, we don't know which way to go.
alex: We can use the mushrooms as a guide. These mushrooms are mobile, and they tend to move towards areas where the fog is the most dense, which generally means deeper into the woods. We just have to go in the opposite direction and we'll find a way out of the woods.
alex: By using that logic, the way out of the woods is directly in front of us.
barlow: Maybe this mandrake stuff is just a myth... We might have a better chance of seeing a wood nymph first.
alex: Oh, I've seen the plant growing out here in years past. I know it's here somewhere.
barlow: But never when you need it.
barlow: I think we should search closer to the edge.
alex: Aw, we're perfectly safe out here.
barlow: Just the same, I'd feel more comfortable if we were at least within range of your mother's voice.
alex: Okay, we'll start to head back if we don't find anything soon.
barlow: Come on, Alex... There isn't anything out here.
alex: Hey, look over there. I think I see something red...
barlow: Wow, is that the stuff?
alex: Bingo! This is indeed the stuff.
barlow: Why didn't we see this the last time we passed this spot?
alex: Obviously we haven't been here before. I know this spot looks like other places in the woods, but I've been leaving marks so I know where I've been.
barlow: If we haven't been here, then what are all these tracks on the ground?
alex: Hmmm... there ARE tracks on the ground, and fresh too. Someone came by this way today, but wasn't interested in picking red-fanged mandrake.
alex: And that person might be coming this way right now! I hear footsteps.
barlow: Do you think it's safe to handle?
alex: Mandrake isn't prickly or noxious or anything like that. It might give a little yelp when we pull up the roots, but it's not really deadly like in the storybooks.
barlow: I don't know... any plant that makes loud noises can definitely be classified as creepy...
alex: Hush... I hear something... Someone's coming...
barlow: Do you think it's... a trap?
alex: Well, I know these woods are dangerous, but I've never seen any actual traps out here. I guess there's always the chance that it could be a trap.
barlow: Quiet! Listen for a second...
alex: I hear voices nearby...
barlow: Someone's ready to jump out if we pick up this mandrake...
alex: No, the voices are getting closer...
annabelle: See? I told you it was them. I could smell their brains.
crystal: Boys... goats... it's hard to tell the difference.
barlow: What are you two doing way out here?
crystal: We might just ask you the same question. We're all supposed to be within Rebecca's voice, but it looks like she's shouting for no one.
crystal: Hey! Is that red-fanged mandrake?
barlow: Um... Yes, er, it could be... I guess.... I wouldn't really know...
crystal: It looked like you were about to pick it.
barlow: Ha, that's funny. What use would we have for red-fanged mandrake?! I don't even know what it's used for.
barlow: That's the one that makes you dream about shellfish, right?
crystal: If you weren't looking for red-fanged mandrake, why ARE you all the way out here?
barlow: We're looking for wood nymphs! They're all young and beautiful, you know... and naked.
crystal: Oh, that just makes this so much better.
crystal: So, have you seen any of these purported creatures?
barlow: Alas, we were unsuccessful. There's nothing around here but trees and more trees. When the fog lifts a little, you'll see how dull this place really is.
crystal: Well, if that's the case then...
barlow: We're a bit lost, you know. Been wandering around in circles...
barlow: When the fog lifts a little more, you'll see, nothing but identical trees in every direction. We stayed around this little plant because it's the only unique thing in the landscape!
crystal: Well, if that's true...
barlow: We're trying to map out the woods.
barlow: You see, we always try to map out a new portion of the woods, and this year we mapped out this region.
crystal: Anything interesting?
barlow: Well... no. We've spent many hours mapping out just the immediate area around this plant. When the fog lifts a little, you'll see how remote and dull this area really is.
crystal: Okay, I guess that's as good a reason as any...
crystal: Wait a second...
crystal: ....then what exactly is THAT thing?!
barlow: What IS that thing?!
barlow: Okay, so there's a creepy structure out here. No cause for alarm...
barlow: Now lefts just back away causally, and RUN FOR OUR LIFE!
crystal: No, I think this demands a closer look.
alex: Yeah, if this is what I think it is, it's an important historical artifact.
annabelle: And I think there's something dead in there.
barlow: So that's where I left it! My... uh, scary structure out in the middle of the woods...
crystal: You've never seen this before, Barlow.
barlow: True, and I think we should just leave it here and forget about it. It's just too... creepy.
crystal: No, I think this demands a closer look.
alex: Yeah, if this is what I think it is, it's an important historical artifact.
annabelle: And I think there's something dead in there.
