barlow: Hmmm... now to get back to this code... I know I can break this one. I know I'm smart enough...
barlow: I'm pretty sure that each of these symbols corresponds to a letter. Seems fairly simple.
alex: Barlow! We've got a problem! We've got a BIG problem!
barlow: Yes. You're blocking my progress with this code.
alex: Oh, forget the stupid code for a minute!
barlow: I know. Annabelle's still in love with you. I just heard all about it back at my house.
barlow: All Annabelle does anymore is talk about you. It's the main reason I moved my code-breaking project over here.
alex: That's a problem, but it's not the problem I'm trying to tell you about. This is something much bigger!...
barlow: I can't imagine what it is this time. Seriously, it's been like twenty minutes since the last time you freaked out about something.
alex: There's been another demon sighting! Over near the woods!
alex: When I heard about it, I dropped everything and ran straight here. You've got to take care of it, Barlow! This could be the start of the invasion!
barlow: And I'm supposed to do what? Every time some evil creature moves into town, she ends up living in my house. I'm running out of rooms.
alex: That's because you're SUPPOSED to be killing them. You're the demon-hunter!
barlow: Who reported this demon? Who saw it?
alex: Well, nobody saw it... yet...
barlow: Explain.
alex: I set up a demon-detection scheme, using a demon-detector. When the weathervane over the Monocle factory moves, it points out the location of a demon!
barlow: So... I'm supposed to break away from my important work here, all because some gizmo you rigged up is pointing towards the woods?
alex: Exactly!
barlow: How can we really trust something like that? I know you're intentions are good , but the methods...
alex: I have to do something! Look at you... You're the town's demon-hunter, but we never see you taking any initiative in our fight against evil!
barlow: You can take care of it for me. I hereby authorize you to take it out.
alex: Barlow, you know very well that I'd love nothing more than to do that, but the simple fact is that YOU are the town's demon-hunter. You have to accept the fact that you're going to have to live up to the role.
barlow: Are you criticizing my methods?
alex: YES!!!
alex: You do nothing but waste your time dreaming of life outside of Spider Cliff. I've got news for you, Barlow... you're HERE and you ARE the demon-hunter.
alex: Now you have to go kill that new demon. Don't worry about the demon and the zombie living in your house. I'll find a way to get them out of here.
barlow: Hmmm... what is it you're planning, Alex?
alex: Well... would you be upset if I looked for a way to drive them out of Spider Cliff?
barlow: Do I mind? Not at all. I have no big investment in either of them, except that Annabelle does all the housekeeping.
barlow: Hmmm... actually, if I didn't have Annabelle, I wouldn't be able to keep up with all the chores that need doing. Maybe it's not such a good idea to get rid of her.
alex: Please, Barlow, I'm begging you...
barlow: They're not doing anything wrong.
alex: Their very presence here shows how far we've fallen from everything that Spider Cliff stands for!
barlow: Speak for yourself, and I'm not sure it's principles you're actually going by. It seems a lot more personal to me.
barlow: You seem intent on keeping Annabelle away from you...
barlow: I've been wondering if it's because you're afraid of your own feelings for her...
alex: How I feel? I could never have a serious relationship with a corpse!
alex: Do you have any idea how awkward it is to have a zombie think she's in love with you? Is an evil creature like that even capable of those kinds of emotions?
barlow: I don't know. She seems to believe it.
alex: She's just confused, and it's unnatural... even for someone so, uh, unnatural.
alex: How would you feel if it happened to you? What would happen if Crystal was in love with you?!
barlow: Ha! Crystal and I are too smart for that!
barlow: We're both rational beings, and we both agree that we have absolutely NO common ground. Crystal would never make any advances with me, and I'm way too shy with girls to be the one to make a move...
alex: You're too shy? Are you implying that you'd say yes to a pairing if SHE was the one after you?!
barlow: What are you implying?!
alex: Implying? Nothing, I'm just trying to show you how weird it is to have someone like that making advances on you.
barlow: So you were just making that up?
alex: Of course. Crystal isn't really in love with you... or would you prefer that she was?!
barlow: Crystal knows better than to make a move on me.
barlow: However... I'm willing to bet she's encouraging Annabelle's wooing...
barlow: I can't let her meddle in this sort of thing, at least not successfully. Right! If I accomplish one thing, it's going to be to prevent Annabelle from ever being paired up with you!
barlow: You couldn't be more wrong! That demon and I... together... would be a disaster! We're nothing alike!
alex: Well, if that zombie gets her cold dead hands around me, what do stop Crystal from trying to conquer you in the same way? You see, they could take over using THAT kind of treachery!
barlow: You're right! If I accomplish one thing, it's going to be to prevent Annabelle from ever being paired up with you!
