Transcript of this chapter:

rebecca: Hello, Barlow. I just want to say that I'm really sorry that you got stuck here in town. I know it must be hard for you.
barlow: You're sorry? Why are you apologizing? Are you hiding something?
rebecca: I'm NOT apologizing. I'm just being empathetic.
barlow: Oh.
barlow: What are you doing?
rebecca: Well, I've got to work out some details regarding Crystal...
rebecca: I wasn't expecting... I guess I misjudged the difficulties in having an employee.
barlow: I have some more questions for you... um, if it's okay with you...
rebecca: It's good that you're here... alone. I have something to discuss with you, too.
barlow: What's so difficult about hiring Crystal?
rebecca: Where am I going to put her? I only have one apartment to let, and that's yours.
barlow: Well, maybe she can... Hey! You weren't going to rent my room out, were you?!
barlow: You were!
rebecca: You were planning to leave town forever. I couldn't let it go to waste. Anyway, since you're still here the apartment is still yours.
barlow: You're darn right it is. And even if I HAD left town, it's still my room. I can't believe you'd give MY room to that girl...
rebecca: I guess I could put her in the attic above your room. That would work... but there's still a lot of other details I have to work out.
barlow: Like what hours she's working?
rebecca: Hours?
barlow: Her shift here at the diner. When is she going to be working?
rebecca: I... I hadn't really thought of that.
barlow: You don't seem ready to have an employee.
barlow: Why are you REALLY mad at the Sheriff?
rebecca: Don't even bring that up!
rebecca: Oh, that man will regret that he ever crossed me...
barlow: What are you going to do?
rebecca: As you know, I've been supplying him with bait for his mammal traps. But now I'm cutting off his supply for good!
barlow: That's pretty harsh.
rebecca: Hit 'em where it hurts, that's what I say.
barlow: Tell me what this is all about, that's what I say.
barlow: You said you wanted to discuss something?
rebecca: Yes, Barlow... I know you've been intent on leaving Spider Cliff practically since you were born. We even used to catch you as a toddler, heading for the bridge...
rebecca: I want you to keep this secret between us... I know of another way out of town.
barlow: Another way?! How?!! I NEED to know!
rebecca: Down in lower Spider Cliff, there's a lot of old storage rooms. Look for storage bay twelve. There's something there that might help you.
barlow: I'll go find it right away!
rebecca: Good, you do that. The object you're looking for is large, you can't miss it. Once you find it you'll understand, the best time to use it is tonight.
barlow: Rebecca, you're killing me... what's in storage bay twelve?
rebecca: It's filled with a bunch of historical artifacts. It all dates back to the Circus War, over a hundred years ago.
